This time around the Gersch and I had the privilege of speaking with Kyle Artrip and Albert from the Austin, Texas punk/hardcore bands Recide, The Creamers, Breakout, Nosferatu, and a host of bands. I apologize for not speaking with these guys sooner. They’ve been playing around Austin since 2009, and this is the first opportunity I’ve had to speak with them. Their sound of hardcore is reminiscent of the early 1980s: loud, fast, and raw, and it’s been dominating the Austin, Texas scene for a few years now.

Welcome to episode 74 of Save It For The Breakdown!

For the past couple of year Graham has been kind of enough to give Gjared and I backstage access to do interview during Fun Fun Fun and Sound on Sound Fest. When I around in the backstage area, I usually try to find punk/hardcore bands or artists to speak with. This time around I had to make an exception. I had to interview one of my favorite hip-hop artists, Aesop Rock. I saw Aesop Rock wondering around, and I casually said hello and started a conversation with him. I was a little apprehensive about asking for an interview. I didn’t want to bother or annoy him. Gjared insisted, and Aesop was all in.

Thank you Aesop Rock for sitting down to talk with us. Thank you Graham for allowing us in the artists areas of the fest. And thank you Balaram Shakti Das for always sticking your neck out and never accepting no for an answer.

I’d like to apologize for the audio quality on this one. There was some band playing nearby and doing some crazy bass heavy stuff that distorted some of the conversation towards the end. At the time I couldn’t figure out what to do to compensate for it, and looking back the only thing that we could have possible done was move to another location, but there was no moving away from the bass since we were pretty much backstage.

Welcome to episode 71 of Save It For The Breakdown!

I invited Graham Williams back to the podcast to talk about his new entertainment company, Margin Walker, and the replacement for Fun Fun Fun Fest, Sound On Sound Fest. Joining us as well was Craig Moore. Craig Moore is one of the most awesome vocalists in Texas Hardcore. He has been the frontman for such bands as Employer/Employee, Sea Of Thousand, Ratking, and several other bands. He is currently destroying in Pushmen.

There was a bit of confusion with scheduling Graham, but it didn’t seem like a big deal with having both Craig and Graham on since both have been friends and housemates during the late 1990s. The recording ran long, so I decided to make this a two part episode. Part one is mostly with Graham and he talks about Margin Walker and Sound On Sound. During part we all talk to Craig about his various projects.
